The Gull's Call - Oct/Nov/Dec 2025
AssociationNews Harbor Pointe by Randi Carlson Hinkle L UCI ACKHART, BETH SIBLEY, GEMMA ROONEY, AND Judy Johnson did a great job organizing our recent Potluck Picnic. Special thanks for their donations of great door prizes. Thank you, also to our resident Acupuncturist, Anita Marshall, for her donation of a free acupuncture session. We had over forty attendees topping our previous attendance record. It was especially nice to see our children taking advantage of some of the lawn games. Thank you to all who attended and brought a dish and beverage to share. We had four tables loaded with great food. Thanks to Patrick Steacy for his showing of “Toy Story” on the big screen in the northwest cul-de-sac of Harbor Road. Also, thanks to Jim Hinkle for helping setup, and to Nina Stevenson for letting us use her garage and electric ity for the hot chocolate and popcorn. We all got a kick out of watching the reactions of the little ones to the charming story. Our Board Treasurer, John Wells, along with Henrik Bruhns, are working together with our Manager, Saman tha Soogian, to get quotes from local contractors to re surface Harbor Road. We hope to accomplish this before the end of the year. We had to wait until after our sewer lateral work was completed to the satisfaction of EBMUD. We hope to get the resurfacing done before the rainy season. We have budgeted for concrete work and trim painting for 2026. Speaking of maintenance…Thank you to the homeown ers who had their roofs and siding replaced this year. Your homes look fabulous. If your home still has the original siding and roof, it likely has deteriorated enough that it is time for you to look into replacing it in 2026. Our Man ager, Samantha, can help you with recommendations for local contractors to do the work. You must use a licensed contractor as stipulated in our CC&Rs and go through the CHBIOA Architectural Approval process. Don’t put it off. Start the process now as you must fit your job into the contractor’s schedule. Our Annual Harbor Pointe Homeowners Meeting and election of Board members will be on the evening of March 26th. Your board encourages you to help us by deciding to run for office. We could also use volunteers to
help Beth Sibley, our one woman Landscape Committee, as well as volunteers to form a Maintenance Committee to assist Samantha and the Board regarding maintenance issues. Finally, a special mention of one of our original Harbor Pointe homeowners, Roger McClure, who is moving to be near family. Roger served many years on our HOA Board and Maintenance Committee. We are grateful for his ser vice. He will be missed. Headlands by Barbara Curtis & Marla Lee T HE HEADLANDS BLOCK PARTY WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! On Sunday, August 17th, over 120 residents and families gathered on Gonsalves Court for an afternoon of fun, food, and community. Attendees enjoyed delicious fresh, hot food prepared by Kingpin Katsu, sweet treats from Mister Softee, and a variety of activities including face-painting, a bounce house, and balloon sculptures by Michelle's Balloon Twisting. The event was especially memorable thanks to the perfect weather and a record-breaking turnout. This annual tradition, started by the Headlands' developers 29 years ago as a small potluck, has grown into a major neighborhood celebration. This year's success was made possible by a dedicated committee of 10 people and the generous funding of the Headlands Homeowners Association. A special highlight was catering by local entrepreneur Jacob Lee of Kingpin Katsu who grew up in the Headlands, serving up delicious fresh-made chicken, pork, and tofu katsu. It was a wonderful day that reminded us all how lucky we are to live in such a friendly and beautiful neighborhood. Everyone should have the Headlands Board Meetings on their calendars. The Board meets at 6:00 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month, starting in March, with the option to attend in-person at the Community Center, or online via RingCentral. Our fall meetings will be 10/21 and 11/18. We especially salute homeowner Barbara Curtis for volunteering to fill the long empty board member position. We look forward to the positive energy, enthusiasm, and creative planning skills she brings to the board in the coming year!
