Freeport by Sami Soogian, Association Manager A S WE HEAD INTO THE SUMMER MONTHS, THE Freeport Board of Directors has been hard at work on several important initiatives to enhance our community and plan for the future. We are pleased to share that the 2025–2026 budget has been approved. While it includes necessary increases, these adjustments reflect significant rises in water and insurance costs, as well as a continued effort to maintain a healthy reserve fund that supports long-term community sustainability. The spring planting project has recently been completed, refreshing the landscape throughout Freeport. We’re also excited to report that the Board has taken advantage of EBMUD’s Irrigation System Rebate Program, which helps us conserve water and reduce costs. This upgrade will be finalized by the time you read this message. In recognition of our ongoing landscape improvements, our landscaping company submitted our community to the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA)— a great honor that highlights our commitment to main taining a beautiful and well-kept environment. To enhance security for all residents, an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system was installed earlier this year. This important investment supports the safety and well-being of our community. One of the Board’s current ongoing projects is revamping the community’s parking guidelines. Parking has been a frequent discussion topic, and we are working to imple ment a more effective enforcement program to address long-standing concerns. We welcome any residents who are interested in volunteering for this effort—your input would be invaluable as we explore thoughtful and practi cal solutions. A reminder to all homeowners: if you are planning any exterior modifications to your home, please remember to submit an Architectural Application for approval prior to beginning any work. Also, if you notice any maintenance concerns or potential violations, please report them to our Association Manager so they can be addressed promptly.
As summer begins, our children will be playing outside more often. Please be vigilant while driving through the neighborhood and adhere to the 15 mph speed limit, which also applies to electric bicycles. Lastly, we are happy to announce your 2025–2026 Freeport Board of Directors: • Cullen Lim (Incumbent) • Ed Sing (Incumbent) • Kelly Gordon (Incumbent) • Kevin Edison (Newcomer) • Michael Lien (Newcomer) Thank you for your continued engagement and support in making Freeport a wonderful place to live. Harbor Pointe by James Allison G ET READY FOR SOME OUTDOOR FUN! PATRICK Steacy of Harbor Pointe is planning a Summer Saturday Neighborhood Movie Festival. He intends to show a film on the last Saturday evening of June, July, August, and September in the northwest cul de-sac of Harbor Road. All movies will be family-friendly. Watch for the posters and stock up on popcorn! Also in the planning phase is our Annual Summer Potluck Picnic, spearheaded once again by Luci Ackhart. Stay tuned and watch for posters about this event. There’s talk of door prizes you won’t want to miss. Come out and meet a new neighbor or two—as well as reconnect with the old gang. Some folks are also considering a lawn game tournament, featuring badminton, paddle ball, and croquet—but not lawn darts. Lawn darts are just dangerous, as anyone who grew up in the 60s or 70s can attest (LOL). Stay tuned for updates on that. We’re also hoping to schedule an informal music concert. Calling all amateur and professional musicians: please contact Randi Hinkle if you’re interested in performing. Adult and kid performers are gladly welcome to partici pate! Finally, a big thank-you to Randi, who gathered all of the above information.
