The Gull's Call - Oct/Nov/Dec 2026

AssociationNews Brittany Landing Bay by Christine McMahon G read on and please help as you can. POOL PARTIES

Alison adds that special thanks go to Dan Leininger for grilled burgers and hot dogs, Holly Larsen for cupcakes made in ice cream cones, and all who brought tasty appetizers, salads, and other desserts. And all of us thank Alison and her other hardworking helpers, Hilary Burg and Robert Hardman. POOL KEY UPGRADE Your pool key will still get you into the pool, but now it has new superpowers: It will open all the pedestrian gates at the end of Parfait, Damon, and Bay Park. Thanks to the Board for this great idea. LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS All the underground storm drains have been cleaned with high-pressure water and roots have been removed. Where problems were found, repairs will be made. By doing this every two years, BLB prevents future water problems. Keith Epstein notes that leaks and problems in our expansive irrigation system can easily be missed. “If you notice a leak, i.e., water spraying in a heavy flow rather than a slow drip, please report this to me. Similarly, if you notice a plant or tree that appears to not be getting enough water, let me know.” Additionally, you may have noticed the 6”x8” high green “atriums” sticking out of the dirt near your home. Those are points where the storms drains are accessed for cleaning, and they need to be kept clear of dirt and mulch. So, if you see one getting covered up, please push the dirt and mulch away. There are over 400 of these atriums in BLB, so keeping them clear of debris is a job that requires many hands. FREE SHREDDING EVENT The next FREE Document Shredding/E-Waste Recycling/ Donation Event will be held from 9 AM - Noon on Saturday, October 10th in the Community Parking Lot. Cantamar by Barbara Caulfield, Board Treasurer T his issue of The Gull’s Call will arrive in early October, and we should still be enjoying some warm weather even as the days grow shorter. Before long, however, autumn will bring cooler temperatures—and possibly a good amount of rain.

OOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY! But the community needs just a bit of help from its residents on some of them. So

We’ve had 2 so far. I missed the grand pool reopening Barbecue Taco Party on July 12th, but reports are that it was a huge success with great food and camaraderie.

I did get to the party on August 23rd so I can tell you firsthand that it was wonderful. At one point, 46 neighbors were present. Our HOA President, Keith Epstein, reports that we also had a special guest. “Our long-term and well-liked mailman was also invited and attended; it’s always great to see Virgil and thank him for his service to our community for so many years.”

Our Pool Party Planner, Alison Brooks, provided name tags to all and explained her strategy: “In addition to their name, we suggested that they write the street they live on and the number of years (or months) on their name tag. This sparked some great conversations and new connections.”
