The evening wrapped up with presentations from key city agencies and departments on topics affecting all homeowners. Sun Kwong Sze, EBMUD’s Community Affairs Representative presented an overview of EBMUD, including where our water comes from, the agency’s work over the years, and current projects in the area. Heather Heinbaugh, Alameda Power & Telecom Customer Programs Manager informed the board members on AMP’s commitment to providing 100% clean power since 2020 with an energy mix that combines geothermal. Hydroelectric, wind and landfill recovery. AMP is supporting HOAs and homeowners with electrification rebates and resources including the DIY Energy Audit and the Electrification Guide and Cost Estimator Tool. Scott Wikstrom from City of Alameda Public Works Department advised the audience on the upcoming street repaving project that is part of the City’s transportation plan here on Bay Farm Island. The project will begin in Fall 2025 and will focus on the rehabilitation of key streets on Bay Farm Island-Mecartney Road, Aughinbaugh Way, and Maitland Drive. Other focuses of the project will include daylighting of intersections, high visibility crosswalks, advanced stop bars, paint and post bulb-outs, and bike lanes.
