The Gull's Call - Jan/Feb/Mar 2024

AssociationNews Clipper Cove by Cathy Sherrer, Board Secretary T HE CLIPPER COVE BOARD HOPES EVERYONE HAD A happy holiday season. Wishing you all a safe and healthy 2024! CLIPPER COVE HOMEOWNERS ANNUAL MEETING Please save the evenings of Tuesday, February 13th, for the Clipper Cove Annual Meeting and Tuesday, May 14th, to attend the Clipper Cove Homeowners Annual Dinner. PROJECT ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE We would like to thank our Project Architectural Committee (PAC) members, David and Cynthia Hamilton, who have recently “retired”. David and Cynthia served many years without ceremony. Although they have big shoes to fill, please consider volunteering for this position. The PAC reviews all architectural applications for property improvements or modifications, as well as exterior paint proposals that are exceptions to the standard Clipper Cove paint palette, and provides valuable recommendations to the Community Architectural Committee (CAC). If you are interested in contributing to this vital service, please contact our Association Manager at 510-865-3363 ext. 358 or CCV@harborbay.org. LANDSCAPING NEWS The conversion to drought tolerant landscaping has been completed between Channing Way and Crane Court. More improvements are being planned for the lagoon path between Channing Way and Crane Court and the end of Capetown Drive at Aughinbaugh Way. Our 2023 landscape conversions allowed us to maximize our annual eligibility for EBMUD rebates. We are still in need of some neighbors who would like to serve on a Landscape Committee. If you are interested, please contact our Association Manager. TRIP HAZARD MITIGATION Clipper Cove sidewalks were “shaved” by the Trip Stop company to mitigate trip hazards. Clipper Cove is responsible for only the sidewalks in our open space areas. The City of Alameda maintains the sidewalks adjacent to city streets. CLIPPER COVE 2024 BUDGET The 2024 budget has been approved. It results in only a

modest increase in your monthly Clipper Cove specific homeowner dues. CRIME IN OUR AREA Although we would like to think that Harbor Bay is insulated from crime and that our Security patrols effectively deter criminals from entering our area, this is sadly not the case. Incidents of crime are on the increase. We are the eyes and ears of our community. If you see or hear a crime being committed, even if you think it is “insignificant”, please be sure to report it to the Alameda Police Department and Harbor Bay Security. The authorities will only know if a problem exists when we make them aware of our statistics. Costa Brava by Becky Cusack, Board Secretary A S THE WEATHER COOLS AND WE CLOSE OUT 2023, we are grateful for all the progress we made this year as a community, and look forward to what exciting developments await us in the new year. Unfortunately, in recent months, our community has faced challenges with mail theft during the night at the kiosks on Baywalk. We urge residents to collect their mail daily after the late morning/early afternoon delivery and advise against using the outgoing mail slot for important items. These precautionary measures are crucial in safe guarding your personal correspondences and maintaining the overall security of our neighborhood. The Private Sewer Lateral Project has finally begun! They started with some of the “mains” and have begun notify ing individual residents in two ways: through the mail and posting on each mail kiosk. When a residence will be worked on, the house will get a paper notice taped onto the house a week before, and the kiosk will also have an updated plan ahead of schedule. Be on the lookout to avoid any surprises on your Bay. As you know, this project is a significant step in enhancing our community’s infrastructure and ensuring its sustain ability for years to come. We appreciate your understand ing and cooperation as we work through this vital initia tive. As we delve into the holiday spirit, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all members of our community. Your
